Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Still Has 5 Promised Games on the Way

Aug 19, 2023Aug 19, 2023

Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers are still waiting on five promised games coming to the service.

There are still five promised games Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers are waiting to see added to the service. The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack costs $49.99 per yer, but in exchange, Switch gamers get access to many more retro games than vanilla Switch Online subscribers. This includes titles pulled from the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance libraries, with more added on a semi-regular basis.

Nintendo just recently announced that Excitebike 64 is coming to the Switch Online Expansion Pack on August 30. Another Nintendo 64 game was added to the Switch Online Expansion Pack earlier in the month, with the long-awaited debut of Pokemon Stadium 2 on the service. It's unclear when the next Nintendo 64 games will be added to the Switch Online Expansion Pack, but fans can count on at least two more coming down the pipeline.

At the time of this writing, Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers have two Nintendo 64 games and three Game Boy Advance titles to look forward to. Nintendo has yet to reveal when exactly these games will come to the subscription service, but fans can count on more information on that front dropping in the relatively near future.

As far as the Nintendo 64 goes, Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers have 1080 Snowboarding and Mario Party 3 on the horizon. 1080 Snowboarding is a Nintendo 64 exclusive snowboarding game that earned critical acclaim in the years of its original release. It may not have all the bells and whistles of more modern snowboarding games, but it offers genuinely entertaining gameplay that makes it difficult to put down.

Mario Party 3, meanwhile, is the third and final installment in the Mario Party series on the Nintendo 64. Mario Party 3 wasn't quite as well-received as the first two Mario Party games, but it has been held in higher regard in retrospectives. Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers can formulate their own opinions on Mario Party 3 when the game is added to the service, whenever that may be. The first two Mario Party games were added to the Switch Online Expansion Pack on the same day last year, but there's no word yet on when fans can expect to see Mario Party 3 join the lineup.

As far as promised Game Boy Advance games go, there are at least three more on the way. This includes racing game F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, acclaimed RPG Golden Sun, and popular platformer Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. It's entirely possible that there will be more Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64 games added to the Switch Online Expansion Pack down the road, but no plans to that effect have been announced at the time of this writing.

It's also worth noting that Japanese gamers have a couple of extra Switch Online games on the way in the form of Harvest Moon 64 and Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru.
